Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequently asked questions about payment processing services

You have questions, we have answers. If you can’t find what you’re looking for in our FAQ section below, give us a call or shoot us a message via online chat.

How can I save money with Spike Financial?

The three main ways we help customer save money are with surcharging, cash discounting, and interchange-plus pricing. Any of these solutions may work well for you, depending on your volume of transactions.

You can also save money with Spike Financial if your business is in Texas and you choose to bundle your electricity service through Spike Energy, Inc.

How much will I pay for merchant services with Spike Financial?

Since we custom-build every POS system for our customers, it’s difficult to publish rates that would give you an accurate idea of exactly how much money you’ll save if you become a Spike Financial customer.

In general, our customers pay rates as low as 1% when they accept debit card and credit card payments. To offer a quick comparison, merchants who use Square pay an average of 2.75% for swiped cards and 3.5% plus 15 cents for each manually entered transaction.

Buying new POS equipment can be expensive, so how does Spike Financial help customers afford the hardware?

We may be able to spread POS costs out over a few months to help decrease the initial investment for all new equipment. Our prices are fair; hardware isn’t our main revenue source, and we want you to have modern equipment so your software runs smoothly and you have an excellent experience with your Spike Financial merchant services account.

Are your prices introductory? Will there be automatic rate increases later?

Unlike many big banks, we don’t impose expensive leases for hardware. We also don’t surprise our customers with big rate increases every six months. When you sign up with Spike Financial, there’s no catch. You’ll understand what you are buying, how much it costs, and what you’ll get.

Our pricing is transparent and our statements are easy to read. If you need help understanding anything about your equipment or statements, you can reach out to our Texas-based support staff 24/7, including weekends and holidays.
